50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas approved by the Cabinet


Under civil and defense sector, the cabinet has approved setting of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas all over the nation. A person aware of the development said that once the proposed KVs are all functional they will aid approximately 50,000 students in their education. Union Minister Arun Jaitley said, “these new schools will be set up in areas that are hotbeds of left-wing extremism, as well as in places with heavy deployment of Central Reserve Police Force troops or with the high concentration of railway employees.” Currently, there is 12,000 KVs functional across the entire country and three are functioning abroad. A person aware of the development of the matter said that in the next five years INR 1579.9 crores will be spent in constructing KVs including salaries of the staff. "While Rs. 1,241 crore will be for building construction, the remaining Rs. 338 crore will be for staff salary. The teachers and staff requirement will be met through deputation and contractual employment for the time being and till the formal recruitment is done," a senior official told PTI.
